Day 13

Isar Lografting

Day 13 in July is the Mega Highlight!** Get ready for an amazing raft trip along the Isar River, a rich tradition full of history and excitement. Our rafts, crafted using time-honoured techniques, are dismantled in Munich after completion and transported back to Wolfratshausen for reassembly the next morning at 5 a.m. This journey spans nearly 30 kilometres toward Munich, showcasing the breathtaking Isar Valley.

No adventure is complete without great food! Enjoy a delicious snack of warm meatloaf or hot white sausages with mustard, fresh pretzels, and rolls, paired with refreshing Augustiner beer from a wooden barrel. For lunch, you can rent a grill for a hot roast on the raft or stop at one of the charming restaurants along the way.

To enhance your experience, a lively music group will set the perfect tone as you float down the river, making for an unforgettable day on the water!

History of Oktoberfest

The history of Oktoberfest really boils down to a single wedding, one that has been celebrated for over 200 years now. The inaugural Oktoberfest was first celebrated in Munich in 1810 in honor of Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The festivities began October 12, 1810, and lasted nearly a week until October 17, ending with an exciting horse race. After such a spectacular party, the happy couple decided that the same type of festival should be continued annually. In the following years, the festivities were repeated every October and they eventually moved forward into September.

Today, Oktoberfest is the largest festival in the world, with an international flavour that is extremely characteristic of the 21st century. More than 6 million visitors from all over the world take part in Oktoberfest every year.
